Cradle Design
Remove the old cribs with decorative cutouts, corner posts or lead paint. The space between bars should be no more than 2-3/8 inches to prevent children receive head between them. Cribs manufactured after 1974 must meet this and other safety standards. Corner posts should be the same height as end panels or less 1 / 16 inch higher than the end panels.

Crib hardware

The crib hardware should be checked for disengaged parts broken, bent or loose. Special controls should be of the mattress support hangers and brackets so they can not fall. The hardware and the crib should be smooth with no sharp edges or points and rough surfaces.
Cot Accessories

Do not place your bed near a window. Curtains and blinds represent a risk of entanglement and the window is not intended to keep a child in, only insects out. Install smoke detectors. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the location. Check at least once a month make the stack and the smoke detector in good working condition.
