Baby Sleep Tips

Feeling tired and having difficulty putting your child to sleep? Follow these tips we've collected from other moms.

Remember, there are several ways to achieve the same desired result. Apply tips here and molds the outcome that suits you, Your Baby and your family's needs.

For you:

  • For a few weeks after birth, try to sleep when the baby sleeps. Household chores can be done later …. or even better, by someone else.
  • Expect an evening of food with a parent or other caregiver support.

For Baby

  • Newborns can not be "spoiled" in the first two months of life, so help your baby to sleep at all the necessary means for this period (examples include holding, rocking, sing, give the nipple).
  • Avoid the "training" your baby to sleep only when it is dark and quiet. This can be achieved by allowing some noise with the day's activities.
  • Apply a slow, gentle pressure the skin of your baby just before bedtime or naptime to help your baby an agreement.
  • Try putting your baby to sleep before he / she is tired. Babies can become very irritable when they are too tired.
  • Sleep patterns in babies usually do not appear until 3-4 months of age. Such find it helpful to keep a calendar phases of your baby sleep for about a week to help determine sleep habits of your baby. Determine your baby sleep habits will help you know when your baby to sleep before he / she is tired.
  • 3-4 months old, babies can begin to slow down to sleep. Let your baby about 10 minutes to herself back to sleep. If your baby is not resolved, however, offer its assistance for few minutes at a time and try to do as little as possible to help your baby falls asleep.

Maximize your sleep at night with a newborn:

  • Do not let your baby sleep more than 3 consecutive hours during the day.
  • Feed your baby through an update more frequent. This will help stretch the food in the night a little longer. Even an extra 30 minutes to an hour of sleep is helpful.
  • Give your baby a pacifier when placing your baby sleep. Babies are kept to suck pallets and have been associated with a reduced risk of SIDS.
  • Avoid changing layer (a unless the child has diaper rash) in the middle of the night to keep the low level of stimulation.
  • Make boring evening meals. Try not to speak with your baby, to maintain low light … only changes the coat of your son (if necessary), baby food, then put your baby to bed.
  • Did you see your baby in a dress to make it easier to change diapers at night.
  • Some children, especially in the first month of life, feel safe when wrapped. It is preferable to wrap your baby during the day they are awake and check on him. If you swaddle your baby one night, to wrap their safety and is baby's arms out of the global coverage to avoid covering the mouth and noise during sleep or the use of the Miracle blanket.
  • Provide the last meal as late as possible.
  • For formula-fed infants:
    • Pre-measure the water in a bottle and pre-measured amount of foam in a container separate closed. Prepare enough of these all night. When it's time to eat, mix water and a powder feeding together. It eliminates the need to heat the milk.

your sleep at night at his best when your baby is 2 months old:

  • Place your baby in bed awake.
  • Create a calendar routine night before bed. For example, the routine is to give my baby a bath after your last meal, followed by a brief massage, transform in pajamas, read a story or sing a lullaby. Between 2-4 months, may be useful for their first bedtime routine, then give the last meal.
  • Sea consistent with the routines of nap and bedtime.
  • Make sure your baby sleeps in the same place and almost at the same time.
  • Start your bedtime routine earlier so that your baby is sleeping before he / she is tired.
  • After 6 months of age when the risk of SIDS has decreased slightly, may allow your child to sleep with a comfort item like a blanket or Stuffed Animal.
